Knockdown declared at 7:01 AM with 52 firefighters working on scene. Occupants in the building sheltered in place -- one patient (27M) was evaluated for injuries but refused hospital transport. Alvarado St. is temporarily closed to traffic in the immediate area while crews overhaul fire damage. They include three female adults (1 critical and 2 in serious condition) being transported by LAFD Paramedics to a regional trauma center. An additional patient who was sadly beyond medical help, determined dead and remains at the scene; as well as a fifth person who reportedly fled the scene prior to LAFD arrival.
