Firefighters Protect Several CNG Trucks and Structure in Vermont Vista Fire

Monday, August 25, 2025
LOS ANGELES-

A pre-dawn fire at a Vermont Vista vehicle storage yard destroyed four Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks, but firefighters managed to save several others and prevent flames from reaching a nearby structure.

The fire was reported at 3:26 a.m. in the 11500 block of South Vermont Avenue, where it began in outside debris but quickly engulfed four CNG trucks (tractors only, no trailers). Crews employed a defensive strategy to prioritize firefighter safety, monitoring multiple burning CNG tanks while containing the blaze. Approximately eight other trucks and the nearby structure remained free of flame impingement.

More than 58 Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, along with crews from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, responded to the scene. CHP managed temporary road closures while specialized units, including HazMat personnel, were requested due to the high-hazard nature of the fire.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under active investigation.
